"This is what democracy looks like!" - Women's March | Washington, D.C. | 2017

I was fortunate enough to take a bus up and back from Florida to Washington, D.C. to cover the Women’s March.

While spending 40 hours on a bus for about 10 hours in D.C. seems insane it is surely an experience I will never forget. I went with my colleague Carrie who wrote a beautiful story you should check out (http://www.heraldtribune.com/news/20170128/taking-karma-bus-to-womens-march-in-washington-dc) about our adventure.

I was never able to get near the main attraction of the stage, but it didn’t matter. I met so many kind people who showed up for so many more reasons than what certain folks claim to think the point of the whole Women’s March was about.

Even when protesters were seen, no one seemed to get angry. Everyone acknowledged one another, held their signs and said “I don’t agree with you but I respect your First Amendment Right.” which then came with the response, “You too.” What!?!?! No yelling? No fights? No tear gas? No cops? Nope. No one got arrested and it was a beautiful day.

Of course only a few photos made the paper (none on the following Sunday despite carrying my laptop ALL DAY) so I am going to dump a whole bunch of them here since folks have been asking to see them.

-cheers-

The reporter I was with, Carrie, is the one with the notepad. :-)

Oh yeah... it rained inside our bus. That was special.

Our bus captain Pam. What a damn saint.
